Towers Algorithm Explained: How Tile Layouts Are Determined

Towers by Turbo Games is a pick-a-tile climbing game. Each floor of the tower holds a row of tiles, some safe and some traps. You pick one tile per floor: a safe tile moves you up and raises the multiplier, a trap ends the climb and the stake is lost. You can cash out after any safe pick. There is no rising curve and no single round outcome shared by all players: every result is decided by where the traps sit on each floor.

The Foundation: Random Number Generation

Before a round starts, the game server generates a random server seed and publishes its SHA-256 hash. Your browser contributes a client seed, and a nonce counts the rounds played with that seed pair. The three values are combined with HMAC-SHA256, and the resulting bytes are turned into trap positions, one floor at a time. Because the hash of the server seed is shown before you pick, the layout cannot be changed after you commit.

How Difficulty Shapes Each Floor

Turbo Games offers five difficulty levels. Each level sets how many tiles on a row are safe. Common layouts for this kind of tower game run from 3 safe tiles out of 4 down to 1 safe tile out of 4:

  • 3 of 4 safe: survival chance per floor p = 0.75
  • 2 of 3 safe: p = 0.667
  • 1 of 2 safe: p = 0.5
  • 1 of 3 safe: p = 0.333
  • 1 of 4 safe: p = 0.25

Floors are independent. The chance of surviving n floors in a row is therefore p to the power n.

From Survival Chance to Payout

The multiplier on each floor is priced from that survival chance and the published 95% RTP:

payout after n floors = 0.95 / p^n, capped at the provider's top multiplier of x3840.21.

Floor3 of 4 safe1 of 2 safe1 of 4 safe

256.25% / 1.68x25.00% / 3.80x6.25% / 15.20x
342.19% / 2.25x12.50% / 7.60x1.56% / 60.80x
523.73% / 4.00x3.12% / 30.40x0.098% / 972.80x
713.35% / 7.11x0.78% / 121.60x0.0061% / 3,840.00x
97.51% / 12.65x0.20% / 486.40x0.00038% / 3,840.00x

Every cell returns the same 95 cents per dollar on average: the chance of reaching the floor times its payout is 0.95, until the cap cuts in on the hardest level. Climbing higher or choosing a harder level changes the variance, not the expected value.

Why the Algorithm Cannot Be Predicted

SHA-256 is a one-way function. Seeing past layouts, past hashes or any sequence of results gives no information about where the traps sit on the next floor. Patterns that seem to appear in a short history are normal clustering of independent events.

The House Edge Mechanism

The house edge is the 5% gap between the payout and the fair price of each floor. A fair game would pay 1 / p^n; Towers pays 0.95 / p^n. This edge applies to every floor and every difficulty, so no choice of level, floor or cash-out point removes it. Some casino lobbies list a 97% configuration of the game; check the info panel of the version you play.

Provably Fair: How to Verify Results

  1. Note the hashed server seed shown before the round.
  2. After the round, reveal the server seed and confirm its SHA-256 hash matches.
  3. Recompute HMAC-SHA256 with the server seed, your client seed and the nonce.
  4. Map the bytes to trap positions for each floor and compare them with the layout you saw.

The fairness checker on this site shows how a hash maps to a tile layout for each difficulty.

Common Algorithm Misconceptions Debunked

  • "A trap is due after several safe floors." No. Each floor is drawn independently.
  • "Some tile columns are luckier." No. Trap positions are uniform across columns.
  • "The game adjusts to my bets." No. The layout is committed before you pick.

Perguntas frequentes

A server seed, your client seed and a nonce are combined with HMAC-SHA256. The resulting bytes set the trap positions on each floor before you pick, and the hash of the server seed is shown in advance.
It is p to the power n, where p is the share of safe tiles on a row. With 3 of 4 safe tiles, three floors in a row succeed 42.19% of the time.
The payout is 0.95 / p^n, so every floor returns 95% on average. The top multiplier is capped at x3840.21.
No. SHA-256 is one-way, and each floor is drawn independently, so past layouts reveal nothing about the next one.
No. The layout is committed through the seed hash before you pick a tile, and you can verify it after the round.
